Calpulli Mexican Dance Company
We love to paint for Calpulli Mexican Dance Company performances throughout the year but one of our most favorite events recently was painting for Calpulli to dance at NYC’s Town Hall Theater for their performance of “Dia de los Muertos”.
I painted the two main characters, La Catrina, and Lupita, in sugar skull makeup. It was so exciting to be set up backstage at this beautiful theater, right in the heart of NYC’s Broadway district! The NY Times wrote the show a wonderful review entitled, “When La Catrina Met Giselle.”
Artists from Face Art by Melissa painted for recent Calpulli performances in NJ and Queens, and for segments on Telemundo and NY1 . Our job is comprised of so many wonderful and culturally diverse experiences; these performances were a very special honor for us to be part of!
